    Whirlpool questions

This is my process as well. I have a bazooka screen in the kettle just in case the hop bag breaks (has not happened yet) and keep the hops in a nylon paint strainer bag usually attached to a DIY hop spider.

    Whirlpool questions

I tend to agree with you and might be the approach i take for simplicity.

    Whirlpool questions

I need to get brave enough to just through the hops in and not worry about a bag

    Whirlpool questions

There is a small 60 minute bittering addition and a ton of dry hops. I only posted the whirlpool schedule since I am unfamiliar with the process. Thanks for the feedback!

    Whirlpool questions

I plan to brew a NEIPA this weekend and will be doing a whirlpool for the first time. I typically chill with a plate chiller and re-circulation pump, so I am thinking i can whirlpool as the wort chills and then turn off the cold water supply when I reach 170ish to allow the whirlpool to continue...

    Carbohydrate Calculator

Now that you mention it, I think that recipe from Zymurgy? might have been the base of this recipe before i started tweaking batch to batch. I'd love to try the actual putting on the spritz next time I am out west.

    Carbohydrate Calculator

Hi John, sure thing - happy to share the recipe. I went with a light brut IPA which is drinking really well right now. I would not call this a clone, but it is very reminiscent of the reformulated Lagunitas DayTime can. Batch Size: 5.25g OG: 1.035 FG: 1.000 Note: No 60 min hop addition 5lb...

    Carbohydrate Calculator

Andrew, I am resurrecting this post again just to say thank you! I have been on a quest to develop a low carb recipe that is repeatable and delicious. With the help of your spreadsheet I have perfected the recipe and once again enjoying homebrewing.

Fermfast Glucoamylase vs White Labs Ultra Ferm for Brut?

Morning all - I am wanting to attempt a brut IPA soon. I am torn between White Labs Ultra Ferm or FermFast Glucoamylase. I believe the two to be the same product minus WL being liquid. Are these two products the same and will either work for brewing a Brut style IPA?

Recipe advice - straying form traditional Pilsner

Good idea Eluterio. I think I will pick up some Prima pills tonight and sample adding Chinkook and Crystal to Prima in a french press. If that works out well, I will do a saaz during brew day and dry hop accordingly.

Recipe advice - straying form traditional Pilsner

I am looking to stray from the traditional Pilsner with saaz hops. I have a sack of CMC Superior Pilsen on hand, 6 packs of Saflager 34/70, a bottle of lactic acid, and a freezer full of hops to choose from. I will be targeting a 15 gallon batch with a double pitch of yeast. In particular I...

    Honeycrisp single variety cider?

I picked up 20 bushels of honeycrisp apples today. Has anyone tried a single varietal cider from honey Crisp? I plan to pasteurize and freeze at least half of the juice to blend with other varieties later in the season. I will do smaller batches of 100% HC using Belle Saison, T-58, and Safbrew...

    4 strange fermentations

Yes, fermenting in my house that stays between 70-72 degrees. These are ale yeast, why would that temperature cause an issue? My temp controlled fridge is tied up with a spediel 60L full of o'fest lager, but, typically I do all standard ales in the house with no temp control. I am not trying...

Hi ColoHox, yes, pitched Saturday evening late so ~65 hours. Hopefully I am being impatient. They are at 72 degrees ambient.
