    Coffee Stout Question..,

I saw another recipe on here where the grounds are added near the end of the boil. He claimed no issues with head retention. Has anyone tried this and had a bad experience or are we just avoiding the easiest solution because of general conceptions which may not bear themselves out in the real...

Seriously, I'd love to skip the cold steeping bullchit. If this works I'll try it.

    Aromatic Malt

Thanks, guys. I hadn't thought of that, but I will definitely mix in pils or 2-row 50/50 and give it a whirl. I'm thinking of hopping for Hallertau or similar.

    Aromatic Malt

Howdy gang Been offline for way to long. Looking to make a beer (ale or lager) that has a good malty flavor but has a clean, crisp, dry finish. Really don't like sweet, cloying beers. I thought maybe I'd try making a beer with 100% Aromatic Malt and mash at 147/148. Has anyone tried...

Substitute for ESB Pale Malt (Gambrinus)

I am brewing a clone of Kona's Longboard Lager and it calls for ESB Pale Malt from Gambrinus. I was not able to source that in time to brew tomorrow. I have in stock: Belgian Pilsner Maris Otter US 2-Row Any suggestions? TIA Joe

New Fermentation Chamber: True GDM-26 Refrigerator Cooler

Hi Raouliii, you've provided the best information I could find so far on True cooler conversions. I am knee deep in a conversion of a model GDM-41. I am using a Love dual output controller which I'll mount close to where you mounted it. I cut the connection between the pink and black wires...

Nitro Stout Carbonation - Need Help

Sorry for the necropost, but I read this that you are carbing at about 2.0-2.2 volumes. Does that sound about right? I don't force carbonate as I heard that affects head retention. I can get to 2.0 in about 2 days at 25-30 psi.

All grain brews have the same "tart" taste - Please help!

So definitely "tart", not "bitter"? ... and by "bitter" I mean in a thoroughly unpleasant way, not the kind of bitter your boil hops create

    Safale US-05 too cold?

It was just an idea. I am a procrastinator, so I rarely have diacetyl issues.

Planning 1st AG Brew-MO Smash but what hops?

No problem. If you have the ability to control the temp near the low range, the Nott would probably work just as well.

All grain brews have the same "tart" taste - Please help!

I had similar issues with my RIMS system that I didn't have with the coolers. I solved the problem with a combination of Reduce the amount of sparge water (fly sparging) so as not to drop below 1.010. Switch to RO water. Slow down the recirculation rate to where I can still maintain the...

Planning 1st AG Brew-MO Smash but what hops?

I would not use Nott with those hops if you have a choice. US05 is the way to go; it has a cleaner ferment. In order, my preference is: Amarillo Citra Mosaic
