    Sous Vide... In a Brewzilla

I used the temperature controller I built for my freezer, but I used the heat side on my 'dumb crockpot'. It has high/low/warm/off. I set to high, put the sealed prime rib in at 130 and let it roll for several hours. Broil in oven or sear on kamado grill at around 700 to finish.

What did I cook this weekend.....

I would love the recipe for these! They look tasty!

    Will extract get old?

I brewed an Irish Red a month or so back, and the whole kit was 4 years old! I got new yeast and hops of course, but it came out so dark, you couldn't see light through the glass. Good, but---chewy. Won't do that again. Just my .02

    Northern Brew Irish red....

I am drinking the Irish Red I kegged up last Saturday, and I like it. I may add a little more hops next time or a little extra LME to up the ABV, though.

    2nd brew!

I just checked my water around my bubbler and it was 66.7F. Might need to add another frozen bottle. Fermentation has stopped according to the airlock, but I still see moment in the krausen as in bubbles rising and falling.

    2nd brew!

I wouldn't dream of tossing it :) My last (first) batch was made out of less than stellar (old) ingredients and it turned out pretty good. Good enough I drank about 4 gallons of it myself in about a month. I really hope this batch turns out great, because it already tastes really good without...

    2nd brew!

First brew was a four year old Irish red kit that turned out really really dark. Tasted great, just maybe kinda stale. I just finished that 5 gallons yesterday, washed the keg and then brewed my 2nd batch today. This is another Irish red, but not a 'Killian's Clone' like the last. I poured off...

    First brew!

I have my very first brew in the fermenter right now, bubbling away! I decided to go straight to kegging and got a corny keg and CO2 setup. I will be getting another corny keg and filter before this comes out of the fermenter in about 2 weeks. It is an amber type LME kit with single hopping and...
