First use of Hop spider....my impressions

In addition to stirring, you can recirculate without a pump by draining some wort into a pitcher and pouring it into the hop spider. That should also help the hop utilization.

First use of Hop spider....my impressions

I use this one for 5 and 10 gallon batches. Seems to work fine for me, it fits nicely in the middle of my chiller coil too. It is basically the same as the one in your second link, but larger (roughly 6x14), maybe that would be better than multiple ones? Amazon.com: Hop Spider 300 Micron Mesh...

What's The Best Deal You've Gotten on brewing Equipment?

I got two 20# CO2 tanks for $24 each, one was full, other was about half full. Then found a two-tap jockey box with a regulator and a corny for $60.

Just realized, I hopped a 10 gallon NEIPA with only 5 gallons worth of hops! DOH!

If you are kegging in 5g cornies, just do a exbeeriment and add extra dry hopping to one keg and not the other. You can use the magnet method or hanging bag method to mitigate O2. After the exbeeriment you will know what you prefer for next time.

    Alternative to attempting to whirlpool

    OP is whirlpooling by hand.

    Filling holes in freezer /kegerator

Yes, that is exactly what I was referring to.

    Alternative to attempting to whirlpool

Well, if you never really get a good whirlpool, but you do get a hop spider, one thing you can do is filter while chilling. You can drain a half gallon and pour back in through the hop spider. When I used an immersion chiller, I would put the hop spider in the middle of the coil and just do...

What is your cutoff time of day to start brewing?

Similar to others, I have little ones running amok so I usually have to plan the brewdays out weeks in advance. Then, on the day of, I get the earliest start possible. Most recently, was last Saturday, New Year's Day, perfect since everyone was up so late, I got a super early start. Up at...

    Filling holes in freezer /kegerator

I will probably drill out 5 holes through mine next weekend, I could ship you the cores!! :) But really, if you use the expanding foam, as suggested, use the version made for windows, it expands less so it is a little easier to control and then also easier to clean up later.

Pressure Transfer - Equalize Between Two Corny Kegs?

Gravity is the only reason you don't need to keep the FV hooked up to the pressure. Make sure the elevation of the bottom of your FV diptube is above the elevation of the ball lock on your SV and the siphon action created from your FV liquid line to your SV liquid line will fully empty your FV.

    Filling holes in freezer /kegerator

Magnets and children's artwork? Seriously though, if you really want great results, you could always fill the holes with putty and then repaint the whole door with appliance paint. Not sure about how to make the interior nice though.

    Alternative to attempting to whirlpool

Are you whirlpooling by hand or using a pump? Have you ever tried one of these? I use it as a hop spider, it might be easier for straining into your fermenter. I have heard people having issues with the mesh size, I find the 300 micron works fine for me. Amazon.com: Hop Spider 300 Micron...

Pressure Transfer - Equalize Between Two Corny Kegs?

Yeah, just make sure you fully empty the FV by keeping the bottom of the FV diptube higher elevated than the ball lock on the SV. I just put my FV on the counter and SV on the floor. It does take a while though sometimes (probably because I use the 4mm ID evabarrier tubing in my jumpers). To...

    Kitchen stovetop induction BIAB

In my opinion/experience, a round 10g igloo makes sense for BIAB, particularly if you are using it as a mash tun, it will be so much easier to move around (less splashing and more stable lifting it up or down than a rectangular cooler), but you still need a false bottom or bazooka or else it...
