Budweiser American Ale - with Taste notes

I'm on my second six pack of Bud American Ale 1. Smell reminds me of stirring the my homebrew wort. (which is a plus) 2. Taste is Malty goodness, I would never guess "Budweiser" if I didn't already know (normally I'll just pass on drinking beer if the only choice is Bud or Bud Light)...

    Mmmmmm Malt Vinegar Beer /sigh

I let it lager for 3 weeks at 1.050 OG Thanks for the tip about Starsan. Would I have been better off with a bleach solution? (that was what I used to use).

How Do You Get Temp Control For Lagers

Try Craig's list for a chest Freezer. I picked up this one for $120 and I use it with a Johnson Controls A19 to regulate the temp.

    Mmmmmm Malt Vinegar Beer /sigh

Dog fooding is the best way to describe my feeling now. I'm drinking my 6th batch and my 2nd Lager attempt... An American Light (I was shooting for an Asahi Super Dry clone). Anyway, it had a sulfuric taste when I kegged it. As a Lager that's to be expected so I did the prudent thing and let...

What do you do about brewing when it gets hot and you live in Texas

Yes, that is a 14.4 cu/ft Chest Freezer pictured. I bought a temperature controller from the HBHQ on Coit and simply plugged it in and dropped the temperature probe into a bucket of water. It works like a charm. The chest fridge solution is not for everyone. For some, a standard upright...

Get one of these with a temp controller (I use a Johnson A19). I got this from Craigslist for $120. With this, I can now lager. I also live in the DFW area and with our wild weather I'd be lost without my fermentation chest. Happy Brewing!

1 Packet of Saflager 34/70 or 2 packets?

Update. I pitched the 2 packets of 34/70 Saflager at 70F. My O.G. was 1.045 and Mr. Malty suggests 1.6 packets for this. So thanks for the tips. :mug: I hope I can hit my target FG of 1.006. Time for me to drink one of my green stouts. :)

1 Packet of Saflager 34/70 or 2 packets?

@Samc Thanks. I'll play it safe and use both packets on one batch. Maybe I'll pick up some more lager yeast (34/70) for another batch tomorrow. @Mr Bell. I have not boiled the wort yet. I'll know the OG in about 1-2 hours. Is there enough difference that knowing the OG will help determine...

1 Packet of Saflager 34/70 or 2 packets?

Here's my dilemna. I want to brew two lagers this weekend (my first lagers) and I bought 2 11.5g packets of Saflager w-34/70 yeast. Some have recommended pitching two packets into a 5 gallon batch, and officially the Fermentis spec indicates that 1 packet should be fine. If I use both...
