My guess is chrome as they really didn't need any polishing to get to the state you see them in. Most my time was spent buffing out scratches and rust spots. A few dings (down to the metal) filled with nail polish and a nice coat of wax.

Here is mine... also slightly different than yours but like the others. The lead paint polishes up great! Close up to the logo but blurry (cell phone camera).
