Advice needed: Better Bottles, Wine Thief, and air lock activity

Get the Auto-siphone first, then the wine-thief, then the BBs. Most of my carboys are glass, but I've now got 2 BBs and they work just fine, I like that they're light-weight, although it does make me nervous to lift them and feel the plastic shift a little. (Better than those heavy glass...

    Pbr

I used to make fun of people who drank PBR, but honestly, it's not so bad if I don't have any of my own brews left.

Juice Bag Opener and tools question

I use the double-handled corker, it's not easy, but I feel like I'm 'exercising' when I cork a couple big batches! As for the juice-bag openers, I use to use scissors, then on a whim I accepted the upsell when I was ordering a new wine-kit and got the official bag opener... It's super easy to...

    Did I contaminate my beer?

Once it's fermented I think it's terribly difficult to screw up.

    1st time brew.. appears stalled..

Good luck, I'm sure it'll be fine, you might also read a couple of the threads going on here right now about not doing secondaries, quite the debate. And yeah, it'll generate quite a bit of its own heat as it gets cookin'

What kind of drunk are you?

ha! I voted flirty and funny, I'm typically a pretty quiet guy, but when I drink in good company I really open up and tell some stories! I also ahem, tend to let my feelings loose a little toward the women.

    Rookie Move

Yeah, it's no problem. I'll leave a little out on purpose every once in a while. It'll turn out fine. :-)

    Discount

AHS claims to ship within 2-3 days, which is fair in my mind for a mail-order company. Although my orders typically ship out the same-day or next-day after I ordered them. I'd also expect there to be some delays for the next week or two depending on them (hopefully) getting a lot of orders today.

    AHS Oktoberfest Sale

Yeah I noticed that, granted I won't complain since everything is 10% off! But I got the impression they'd have some other 'featured' sale items, maybe that was just in-store only. Although I think this would be a great time to grab a couple of the Select LE 2008 series wine kits for next...

    AHBS Kits?

They're awesome, I actually haven't purchased a kit from anyone else, just haven't heard any compelling reasons to move on to another company. I just started their Special Holiday Ale today, it should have plenty of time to age and be pretty good for this Christmas. I'm a little late, but I've...

The best online home brew supply retailer?

I LOVE Austin Homebrew! Not that there is anything wrong with any of the big boys I've ordered from, AHS has just always been there for me ;-)
