But I'm at that without having pitched Brett or Roselare yet, that's what I'm worried about.

    Consecration kit from MoreBeer

About my 12th homebrew, maybe my 5th or 6th all grain and my first sour. I just started brewing this kit a couple weeks ago. It's in the primary, everything's been going great, gravity readings were spot on and after 2 weeks was still at 1.020 (measured consistent over several days) so I let...

Anyone try randy mosher's Christmas ale?

So I ended up trying brewing the Christmas ale according to Mosher's recipe and made the 'potion' with the spices and liquors at the same time as brewing. I let the potion sit in the fridge while the beer was fermenting and then filtered the spices out of mixture using a coffee filter (this...

Anyone try randy mosher's Christmas ale?

OP, did you end up trying Mosher's Christmas Ale? I just brewed it (I know, I'm a little behind) and I was trying to figure out if I needed to add additional priming sugar at bottling (in addition to the liquor "potion"). Any thoughts? What did you end up doing?

    Starting my first brew

When I first started I cooled just in my sink. I switched from one basin to the other, as the water heated up I would switch the pot to the other basin, drain out the warm water and refill with cold. Help Refining an Apartment Setup

Well of course I don't need any of this stuff, but what else would I do with my money, save it? ;) As for the fermentation fridge, our place stays a pretty consistent 70 (+/- 2) degrees. Would the fridge just add the ability to do lagers?

    Help Refining an Apartment Setup

In my trolling of beer-related posts, I do remember seeing some pictures of this method. Once I feel I've "overgrown" extracts, I'll have to give this a shot.

    Help Refining an Apartment Setup

Yeah, this is a good idea. Thanks for the explanation. I'll definitely run some experiments and see how it goes. Taking out that extra step would certainly be nice. I'll have to look into this a little bit more then. I thought control and flexibility were really the only benefits of AG...

    Help Refining an Apartment Setup

Yeah, the bucket I use as a primary came as part of a 5G brew kit, so there is a lot of room at the top and I believe the better bottle is smaller because when transferring as a secondary the brew takes up most of the bottle. I guess I was going off of Palmer's advice that secondary...

    Help Refining an Apartment Setup

I've been brewing for just a couple months. I just finished my second beer and I have two more extract kits in the wings and then I think I am going to start cobbling together my own recipes. First two beers were fairly successful, but I am starting to try to plan ways to upgrade my...
