Bought the wrong yeast. Should I use it?

Thanks, I'll just use the WPL051. I am going to finnish and dry hop with cascade, so it sounds like it will work well.

    Leftover StarSan bubbles

Everytime I use starsan in my carboys and bottles I am left with a bubbly foam inside. Basically, I soak the bottles in starsan, and as I pour them out, the bottles fill up with starsan bubbles. The bubbles don't always drain out and when they dry, the bubbles turn into a foam. I don't know how...

Bought the wrong yeast. Should I use it?

I plan on brewing an IPA and the recipe I am following calls for California Ale WPL001. I accidentally bought the California Ale WPL051. I am wondering if I should use it or exchange it to follow the recipe. Also, what would be the difference in the beer if I go ahead and use the WPL051 vs. the...

    Yeast past Exp Date

I made a yeast starter for an IPA that I am going to brew, but the yeast (WLP001) is old. The expiration date on it is April, 08. It has been a day and a half now and I still don't see any activity with the yeast. Is it completely dead and should I just go buy some fresh yeast? Also, if it does...

    Extreme Head on my Hef

I brewed a Blood Orange Hef and it came out pretty good as my first hef. My question is about the head. I can pour 1/3 of the bottle into a glass, and the glass will be 90% foam and I have to wait 5 minutes for it to settle. If I pour it gently, it will be half the glass and still takes a while...

No signs of cabonation in bottles

Thanks a lot everyone. I'll wait another week and a half and see how they turn out.

No signs of cabonation in bottles

I bottled my hef a week and a half ago and I still don’t see any bubbling or foaming in the neck of the bottles. After I sanitized the bottles, I lightly rinsed them once with tap water, but they were not completely dry when I bottled them because after bottling 75% of the batch, I turned an...

    Noob Imperial IPA Suggestions

I want to make a hoppy Imperial IPA for my next brew. I have never made an IPA or a big beer before and I could use some suggestions or tips. Here are my plans: 10lbs Briess DME-Gold 1Ib Crystal 20L 1.5oz Magnum 60 minutes 1.5oz Ahtanum 30 minutes .5oz Ahtanum 15 minutes 1 Tbsp...

Forgot to make priming sugar solution!

Thanks a lot for the help. I won't make that mistake again.

Forgot to make priming sugar solution!

Why would you not want to aerate the beer after the yeast has been pitched? I figured shaking the beer to mix up the sugar would help the yeast get started for priming.

Forgot to make priming sugar solution!

I just bottled my 3rd brew. I was so excited about it I forgot to make a priming sugar solution and poured the sugar straight into the bucket of beer. I put the lid on and shook it up for about 3 minutes. I am worried that my beer will not carbonate, or some bottles will have a lot of...

    Secondary fermentation on a Hef?

My second brew is a blood orange hefeweizen. The recipe I'm following doesnt call for a secondary, but there is a lot of fruit and orange zest in there. Woudnt a secondary help to clear up the beer? Also, I was reading that if left in the secondary for too long after fermentation has...
