"Fungal Malting" barley with Koji and Red Yeast Rice

I've been using koji for awhile now. Using the Chinese rice balls, I'm not thrilled with the results. I think the yeast in the rice ball blend is to blame. Further experiments with koji and proper brewers yeast is called for. The method I've been using is to make a Moto and float that in a...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

They will clack together, mine don't actually grind together. I have had my mill lock up without any grain in it so yes the plates are very close. In a pinch a credit card or two business cards is pretty close. .025 is just less than 1mm. you could get a wire type spark plug gap tool at...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

Hey Timmo, The trick is getting the gap set correctly. Look at my posts in this thread, I’ve been stoked with my results. Most of the advice is to set your gap waaaay to loose. I used solid spacers from Homedespot, and washers to shim the bolts on the plate adjustment.

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

Looks good to me check my pics of my first go. I have since backed off 1/4 turn on the position screw. I'm hitting in the 70 to 80's so far. I get higher if I sparge with a gallon or two. That is if I can be bothered.

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

Hey whatever works for you. After actually using the single bucket setup, I don't see why you're all so obsessed with the capacity limits of the single bucket design. It looked to me like 15 to 20 pounds would mill just fine. Everybody has their our style I guess, after all it's brewing, there...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

Great thread, if admitted a bit long winded. I did my homework, and brewed today with a shiny new single bucket mill station. 3 gal bottle for a hopper, 10#s no worries, the hopper and bucket could probably handle 15#s. that might be about capacity on the single bucket design. Gap set...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Dudes!!! I should have posted this here earlier. Target 2.5 gallon Montana jar $20. I have just scaled back from 5 gallon batches. Wide mouth, silicon seal pre-vented. It's ready to go right off the shelf. The best 20 bucks I ever put into my brew gear. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    1 or 2 gallon batches

There was a post on how to modify a 2.5 gallon Montana jar for fermentation. At $20.00 from Target its a bargain. The original post was how to fit an airlock. Having used one the air lock is not needed, it works just fine, the vents in the seal let the pressure out just fine. Go ahead and fit...

    Triple decoction and gelatin?

Hi everybody, I'm reaching out to try and solve a consistent issue. My last three batches have been super hazy and very thick bodied. Not really a big deal if you like pale stouts. All three have been different yeasts and grain bills, one was a SMASH brew, the first was a partial grain and...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I have a 10 gallon capacity at the moment, honestly I could squeeze 15 gallons out of all my gear. But I have settled into 3 gallon batches as just right. It's faster, I go through my batches faster and have reason to brew more often. I've been saying I can make the same amount of a couple...
