First time using Steeped Grains, WAY over on OG

Yeah, don't use the siphon when moving wort to the fermenter. At that point, you want to agitate/aerate it as much as possible and the siphon is meant to prevent that. I just pour my wort right out of the kettle (or through the valve on my big kettle) and use a double mesh strainer on top of the...

Build Your Own Heat Element Kit

Yes. It uses a TC flange. One side of the flange is threaded to accept the element and has a cover to seal up the wiring. Then other side of the flange simply gets welded or soldered (I think brewhardware even offers a weldless bulkhead design now) directly to the kettle. When you're ready to...

    Short elements available?

...minus the weight of the wort it displaces. Have you tried bending an element? It's not that easy. I seriously doubt you would have a problem resting it on the element. But if you're really that concerned, you could just hook it over the kettle rim, as mentioned.

    120v Brewing System? Apartment Brewing

I run two 2000W 120V elements on two circuits in my kitchen. 6 gallons will boil plenty quick and once it's there the 4000W is totally overpowered so I run one element full on and the other I cycle about 5 minutes on and 5 minutes off. 11 gallons will have a vigorous boil, but takes a while to...

    Simple question

...but pay attention to the voltage requirements. The 3500W ones will only work on 240 volts. Unless you know you have a 240V outlet in your brewspace, you're going to be limited to under 2000W on a standard 120V outlet. Also, your kettle has to be induction ready. If a magnet sticks to the...

Build Your Own Heat Element Kit

I went with the radiused flange for soldering. https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/etc4s.htm Love it! These things really are beautiful. I don't have 240V handy so I installed 2 of these with 2000W elements. That boils 11 gallons, no problem.
