    FW Velvet Merlin (Merkin) Clone?

Yeah, saw that...but before they upped the ABV and aged it in bourbon barrels and even before they bottled the beer, it was originally called Velvet Merkin. The original Velvet Merkin is the exact same thing as what is bottled today and known as, Velvet Merlin. I remember first drinking...

I too would love to clone this beer or make something simalar to it. Also, as far as I can remember Merkin and Merlin are the exact same beer.

Trying out a new APA recipe

Tough to say. I never add any clarifying agents to my beers, nor do I cold crash. My beers are always hazy at first, with or without the wheat addition. After a few weeks in the fridge they clear up just fine.

Trying out a new APA recipe

I always tend to throw a little wheat malt (4%-8%) in my APAs/IPAs for better head/head retention. It works great. You can change your recipe up a bit and throw some Carawheat in there but if you decided to keep it the same, just sub out some 2 row for wheat malt and that should do the trick.

    Hops Blowout- $.85/ounce

Love the prices, fast shipping and fresh hops. I just received my 2nd order and I couldn't be happier. I will be ordering again when I need more hops. Thanks again! Simcoe please, hahaha.

any one try stone's session ale? its amazing..can anyone imagine hop schedule?

Nah, it didn't specify but I would imagine anywhere between 7-14 days should be fine. I usually dry-hop 7 days and I get a huge aroma in my IPA's. That's with about 3oz of hops. I just dry-hopped my Pale Ale today and used Kelsey's hop bill. HUGE!!! I'll probably bottle it this Saturday.

No problem! I hope someone brews it up soon and reports back. I probably won't be able to brew it anytime soon.

any one try stone's session ale? its amazing..can anyone imagine hop schedule?

Again, I am not sure if this is the recipe Stone brewed up for distribution or just the homebrew recipe that won the contest. If anyone brews this, let us know how it turns out. Kelsey's West Coast Bitter 5 Gallons OG: 1.042 50 IBU's 90 minute boil Rahr Two-Row 88% Cara-Pils 5% Crisp Crystal...

any one try stone's session ale? its amazing..can anyone imagine hop schedule?

It's a great session ale. Tons of hop flavors and an even better hop aroma with a dry finish that accentuates the hops to their fullest. This beer begs a hop head like me to take another sip on a warm, sunny So Cal day. Kick Ass beer, A+++ The latest Beer Advocate magazine listed a recipe for...

    "Session" IPA's - let's hear it!

Has anyone tried Stone's latest collaboration: Ballast Point/Kelsey McNair/Stone San Diego County Session Ale It's dubbed the “West Coast Bitter.” I haven't tried it yet but I hear it's great. I sounds like the type of beer everyone here in this thread is looking for. I believe...

ESB with Safale US-05 Ale Yeast?

Right on. My last IPA (1.062) was mashed around 148 for 60 minutes and it finished around 1.006, batch sparging, no mash out. Way too dry. Next time I will mash around 154 for 40 minutes and mash out around 170. Using S-05 I am hoping to finish around 1.012-14. To the OP, if you are...

ESB with Safale US-05 Ale Yeast?

I have been having problems with S-05 and over attenuation. What are your FG's with the shorter mash rests and higher mash temps (157-159)?

American Porter Edmund Fitzgerald Clone (AG)

Thanks for the recipe Ohio! I brewed this recipe up about a couple of months ago and it produced one fine porter. I love the bitter/sweet chocolate notes with just a hint of carmel sweetness, finished with a touch of raisin, just a touch. Well balanced and way too easy to drink....smooooth...
