It turned out that age didnt help this one at all. i poped a bottle open two nights ago and.............. Cider!
I also let the other kit sit in the LBK for 5 weeks before even trying ( maybe to long i dont know) and it to was cider tasting. Hopefully its just the curse of Mr. Beer and not...
Well i play MW3 still, wasn't a fan of the last Black Ops so i did't even bother picking this one up. Always looking for new people to play online with. My gamertag is TREbombz86 on xbox360...... just a warning i have quite a foul mouth sometimes ( even more so after a few beers)
I think with the first batch i fermented to cold and it didnt have a chance to finish. My heat was acting up in my house and i had a couple days were the tempature dropped to around 50 or below inside. VA's weather has been quite unpredictable here lately.
What i dont understand is the same...
I too am in the cidery smell and flavor boat. I let my first batch sit for 3 weeks in the LBK and now its been 3 weeks in the bottles and still cidery.
My second batch is at the 3 week mark in the LBK and who would have guess....... CIDER AGAIN!!! I suppose I'll let it sit for another week...
Well I checked the LBK when I got home from work yesterday.... It has been sitting for a little over three weeks now. Needless to say it smells and taste exactly like the last batch i made.
Could this just be bad yeast from the MB kits that i got?? the last batch and this one have around the...
Well lets see where i should start with this beer....... It carb'd up really well, was extremely clear, it was fun and easy to make and that's about all the good things i can say about it.
The actual beer was awful, it smelled like apple juice and just had a horrible taste. This going back to...
So I threw one in the fridge tonight for tomorrow after work. Let them carb up for two weeks and a day. So we will see the out come soon. Luckily I have another beer brewing in the lbk.
well my bottles have been carbing for two weeks so i guess ill throw them in the fridge tonight after i get home from work.
I am a little worried if im giong to like them though, i've been spoiling myself with really good beer lately
Drinking a palate wrecker right now and have a hopslam chilling in the fridge. Don't know if ill drink it tonight since they're only selling by the bottle and you can only get one a day from the place that's carrying it.
well bottles have been sitting for a little over a week and are carbing up nice. should i wait another week before throwing them in the fidge or is it safe to put them in now??
Ha yea i try to stay on top of this while im at work during slow time.
i think the reason with the last batch staying sweet for awhile is becuase i had such a horrible time with tempature changes in my house. now i have the heat set at a constant 66 so the room i keep everything in is around...
Haha yea i guess just dividing it half would have been easier to think of ( who would have ever guess i work for a bank  )
now with spilting it half what about the boil size and the amount of time at a boil does that stay the same or change as well?
When i got home yesterday after work i checked the lbk and man was it going crazy in there. Fermination was alot better then last time by far! Does that have to do with the 15 boil of anything or just having the right temp to pitch the yeast??
I am already starting to plan the next batch (...
Well i bottled my first batch yesterday. It sat in the lbk for 3 weeks and 2 days which i hope was enough time. I ended up just using the bottles that came with the kit just in case of first time bottle bombs.
I also brewed the second kit that my mrb came with. Once i added the HME i boiled...
No do not have one yet, if needed i can pick one up this week at the LHBS. Wondering if warming the keg up and maybe stirring it around will wake up the yeast if needed
