Need some grains milled! Outside of Chicago

I no longer live in the area, but there is a LHBS near 50 and 176 in Libertyville. Nice little place, I'll use them again when I get out of the Navy.

    N.E. Indiana here......

PUI, Woo Bob, I just bottled my DC RIPA, it tasted great even flat! I can't wait until this ages out, it is fantastic! I deviated from the official recipe because I didn't order enough Mt Hood. I had some Cascade on hand, noticed that they were pretty close on the IBU charts, so I used them for...

    AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHH My Damn Roomate!!!

Evan, I think this is where it got ugly, and it wasn't my post. Believe it or not I'm also here to learn, and a lot of you have more experience than me. I think there are two schools of thought here, one structured and scientific, and the other RDWHAHB. My thoughts are: Pitch the yeast...

Sounds like you get into a LOT of fights here so I'll be the grown up and walk away.

Why don't you let me know what is wrong with it then smartguy? BTW it's 'There'

    AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHH My Damn Roomate!!!

I disagree, but there's nothing wrong with letting the wort sit and pitching in the morning either.

    AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHH My Damn Roomate!!!

Why not? Even if he pitched at 90, it would be at his desired temp, 80 or 70 or whatever he's going for, within a few hours, what are the yeast going to do in a few hours? make a bunch of esters and ruin his beer? Anyway looking at the timestamps this is hours old. Personally I would have...

I've heard of people pitching at as high as 115 with no bad effects. I would have done it at 90 without worrying much.

    ring o round the longneck

I just re-read your first post: I like to run my bottles through the dishwasher the day before I bottle. The spray-down with 6 thousand degree water followed by the heated dry cycle does alot for killing germs.

    ring o round the longneck

If it tastes fine though don't dump it, just don't try to impress your friends with it. Do a little self evaluation to decide what you can do to better sanitize. Keep this in mind If it doesnt look clean, it isnt. Even if you used sanitizer on it Everything that comes in contact with...

Anyone use the dishwasher sanitation method??

You guys are pretty anal!, I spray out my bottles, Then I put them in the dishwasher. I DO use soap, but only 1/2 dose. I let them run through the pot/pans cycle and then I let them go the full drying cycle. The bottles come out nice and warm, and this has worked like a champ for me.

Hi Bob, welcome to this board. I see you have something good in your primary too.

    ring o round the longneck

Hey man, That sounds like a little infection. My first two brews were like that, and I first noticed the film in the secondary. They were still drinkable, I just didn't give any of those away. They turned into gushers when I opened them after about 2 weeks, and after about 2-3 months I could...

    The AG Fantasy

I don't know how good your extract brews are, I only did about 5 or 6 before I went AG. Mine were drinkable, but still pretty mediocre, I see some nice looking names in your signature though. I am going to tell you that my beers will stand neck to neck with the best craft brews and Euro...
