How many oz of priming sugar has everyone been using for this?? I used 5 oz but doesn't seem to be carbonating. Unsure whether it is too little sugar or the temps of 55 to 60 in my garage are too low and preventing it.
Problem is my tun is pretty much full. Got some water boiling but don't think I could put on enough to make a difference. It's a 90 min mash too so worried there for temp loss
So I was suppose to mash at 152* and heated strike water to about 168* to compensate. Well once I got the grains mixed well I was at 143*. Is there anything I can do and/or am I ok?? Thoughts or suggestions??
Is there a such thing as too big of a mash tun? I have been using a 5 gal igloo and was looking to upgrade. I looked at a 70 quart cooler. Is that too big to use for higher 5 gal batches and 10 gal batches? If so, is there a rule of thumb for such things???
