Has the craft beer movement abandoned Jim Koch what do you guys think of this article ?

I'm not a big fan of most lagers that I've had but have had some that are pretty good. IPAs are one of my favorite styles but at the same time I wish some brewery's would start doing less of them as I feel like every time something new comes out seems to be another IPA.
Budweiser and coors lite mainly and whatever they had at whatever party I was at. I then started trying sam adams and the different ones I could get ahold of. Then I went to a bar one night with my cousin that had alot of craft beer on tap I remember I had anchor liberty ale and flying dog pale...
I'm using the caribou slobber extract kit from northern brewer and the directions say 2.5 gallons to boil in at least 3.5 gallon pot. the kit is for a 5 gallon batch so if I start with 5 gallons and just add water at the end of the boil to bring it back up to 5 gallons like the directions say...
