Headed to Santa Barbara/SLO in mid-July

I'll throw in my vote for Manrock brewing company, in Grover Beach. A small place with pretty tasty beers. They don't have food, but you can grab a sandwich a couple doors down and bring it over, the owner is real cool.

Ageing in a recyle #1 water bottle?

Haha, yea definitely alot on that debate. My better bottle is stamped #1 PETE on the bottom. How long were you thinking of aging in plastic and what kind of beer. Maybe people with real world experience can chime in

Ageing in a recyle #1 water bottle?

I have read many differing opinions on aging in plastic, and seen many threads on here about it. If you do a search i'm sure you will find a lot of info about that topic so you can come to your own decision on wether or not to use plastic as a fermenting vessel or use it to age in. I personally...

Bananas Foster Creamy Ale (All Grain) **pic intensive**

I'm getting ready to brew this soon. Am I dumping the 2 cups of dark brown sugar and 2 split van. beans into the boiling wort? Or do I boil it on its own and dump into primary?

Bananas Foster Creamy Ale (All Grain) **pic intensive**

I have a question. The recipe calls for 2 vanilla beans. At post #23 you added another soaked bean. Did that make 2 total, or did that addition make 3? From reading through the thread i'm pretty sure it's 2, but thought i'd ask.

    Midwest's Apple Ale Yeast

This kit sounded really good. But I have a concern with the yeast calling for a cider yeast. I read that the White Labs English Cider #775 (suggested with kit) is dry. Now I can only relate 'Dry' to the montrachet yeast i've used making edworts apfelwein. That came out way too dry for my taste...

    temp controlled fridge?

This is what I did, as have many others. I have a small dorm fridge that is used with a controller. You can buy the controller from different manufacturer's or build you own. 1st one I bought was an old Johnson controller, then I built my own after reading about the 'ebay aquarium temp...

Does your spouse/significant other support your brewing?

Yes, so much so that after I purchased a used fridge for my ferm chamber and didn't refill it promptly she took it over as 'her' fridge. And then she reorganized everything out to the shed. Wait a minute...

    Tipping

A few of my friends have been waiters and waitress', so my usual tip is 20% and i usually try to leave a cash tip. I too feel its something thats earned. Sometimes the waitstaff has earned less, sometimes they have earned more. But that leads me to a question or maybe more of something that...

    Moving to Partial Mash

Welcome to HBT. I'm a real newb myself so what i have to say could be way off. I think you can, but with 4lbs of grain i would scale down my recipe. For instance i made a 1 gallon batch recently. I scaled down a popular recipe from here, from 5 to 1gal. In looking over my notes i had 2lbs of...
