    You obviously don't have to. You can hoist and drain...such is the biab method, but I've read many different people's take on the bag and I'm experimenting to see what works best for me.     I've been messing around with converted coolers and copper manifolds/pvc sparge arms and the like for about 18 months. Then I got a bag that fit my cooler and pulley system. Dirt cheap...less hassle and I'm even seeing improved efficiency with the bag. Im going to to try a batch sparge next brew...
