I just had tried a beer from batch #5 (a scottish ale) it carbonated beautifully
but the aroma and taste were definitely not. I was wondering if using a 16qt.
aluminum pot could be to blame. I have the same wash/sanitation practices for every batch. but not sure what went wrong. Any info...
Going to try a JAOM for my 1st. and most recipes are for 1 gal. batches. I'm doing a 5 gal. batch and was not sure if increasing everything by 5 would work.
Also thinking of using a 5 gal. carboy instead of a 6.5 unless there will be to much blow-off.

I'm new to home brewing and I brewed up a Scottish Ale on sat, and the fermentation took off like wildfire but after about 36 hrs. it seems it just stopped. Not sure if airlock activity is a good way to judge or if I should just take a gravity reading. Thanks.
