Thanks for all the informative feedback. It was great to get this amount of information on my first post. I'm doing this first brew from a kit marketed as a golden ale at around 4% alcohol. I'm thinking it is more like an American blonde than a Duvel (although I think Duvel's are a great beer).

From my research there seems to be 2 schools of though. The first one is simply to use 5oz of priming sugar for a 5 gallon batch going into bottles. The second seems to use a chart or calculations based on the amount of carbonation desired and the fermentation temperature. I have a golden...
