Sounds like you learned alot, I learned way too much on my first go. What's done is done. Just make sure the rest of it goes smooth. Remember take your time each time you handle your beer during racking and bottling.
Yes my temp was set at 66F. My starter on the other hand really wasn't big enough. I added wlp001 to a 1000ml flask and let it go for two days on a stir plate. 8 hours before pitching I turned i stirrer off to let the slurry settle out. The slurry was only MAYBE an inch thick in the 1000ml...
My 2IPA has a high alcohol warmness to it. I have read that this will mellow with time. Should I allow it to stay in its secondary or should I let it mellow during bottle conditioning?
Glycol-jacketed conical fermenter with self-contained cooling and heating! They must be expensive. Are they wroth it? The only real technical help that i see they offer besides being able to move the yeast from the beer with easy is that they give you tight thermal control. I have been thinking...

You might need more time to learn your system. Start by opening your ball valve really slow. Let it run like that until you get a clear run off, recirculate what you have collected and start your sparge. Think of the grain as "floating" and keep it floating. Your sparge rate should match your...
I love to make IPAs and I will often toss in a scrap hop or two. I myself have not found any issues with this. I have heard of people adding to much hops and getting a grassy taste. I try not to go over 2 ozs in a 5 gal. batch when I DH, but I think you will be fine with that mix.
Thanks, Ya I'm going to send some to "the eight seconds of froth". I'm just trying to get more opinions in order to see a more accurate picture of what I'm brewing.
