I dumped it, but there is a bend in the bottom where it looks like the residue pooled into. The Star San concentration might have been a little strong, but not by that much over directions. (I make it in 1 gal batches.) I've used Star San for a while now and I've never had this happen before.

I just looked at my stainless kettle. I was getting ready to use it again. It has a dark discoloration (pitting) at the bottom in one of the grooves around the bottom. I only use OxyClean and Star San. I'm assuming it can't be from Oxy, so it has to be from Star San. Has anyone ever had...

I saw an ad in the classified section below for a gas-fired 90 gallon coffee urn. Would it be possible to modify an electric coffee urn to be used as a HLT and MT? Just wondering if anybody has tried this before.

Does anyone use a bottling bucket as a fermenter? It seems like a good way to eliminate exposure to air since you could rack out the spigot and directly in my kegs. My only concern would be whether the spigot is high enough to not pick up the dead yeast. Thoughts?

How long can you keep it in a bucket? Wouldn't the Star San eat away at the bucket over an extended period since it is an acid? I thought Star San couldn't be in extended contact with plastics or metal.

Interesting. If it makes you feel better, I just found a slight white film on the top in my secondary that was bulk aging. I did have to move the carboy a couple of days ago. I wonder if the fermentation restarted. It had previously fully completed fermentation.
