if it doesn't rain it pours for me! Have bought a 5 gallon pressure barrel to store my cider, cleaned and sterilised it. When I tipped it up side down some water is leaking from the cap!!
Do you think this could just be the O ring? As I'm taking this shouldn't happen with a pressure barrel...
Is it possible get an accurate alcohol reading from the hydrometer without taking an original reading?
Or do I need a before and after reading to get this?

Wow I've not been on for a few months! I started my homemade Apelwein on 26th November 2010, and it's still sat in my understairs cupboard.
I forgot all about it, and now not sure what to do with it? will it still be ok?
Started my batch on 26/11/10 and is now still in the carboy in my downstairs cupboard. I was thinking of leaving it there until 3 months then bottling it up? Is it ok to leave there or should it be somewhere else?
Also how long to leave it bottles up before its at its prime? once bottled where...
Oh dear! well its ferementing like mad at the moment! do you think i should add a little more yeast with it rehydrated? or just leave it now?
Had to tip some out of the carboy as it was starting to come out and into the airlock!! hopefully now it should be ok.
