I picked up a 15 gallon aluminum stock pot and am waiting on my new bayou burner to come in. I already have an immersion chiller to get this down to pitching temperatures. If all goes as planned I will be being my first biab batch this weekend. A special thanks to my lhbs for allowing me to...

PBW'd tap lines; funny taste results

I am having the same issues, with new lines from midwest. I assumed the off taste would disappear with use but I'm now 20 gallons through the lines and the taste has not gone away. I'm just downing the first few ounces then pouring a proper pint. Sent from my SGH-T989 using Home Brew mobile app

Cider clarity and when to rack

I am now near 2 months in and my cider is still very dark. Brought it out of the basement that was around 60 degrees and put on a first floor closet hoping the change in temp would cause some more fall out of the suspended junk... what should I be looking to do next? How do you use pectin for...

what should I expect? Did I do it right?

When using a hydro the number you get at the first reading is always going to be higher than at the second reading. The hydro measures specific gravity, basically the amount of stuff (sugars) in the solution. Sugars go down when yeast eats them to make alcohol. The percent alcohol number on the...

Well that sure was a lot of trub..

I put a pumpkin stout into secondary after 2 1/2 weeks in primary and I lost a little over a gallon in the transfer. It was upsetting to see so much left behind... good thing it was a 6 gallon batch.
