I have a SCOBY that I've continuously replenished with new tea. It grew very thick, and there are bubbles trapped under it. Is this a problem?
I suppose I wouldn't have to risk contamination in the process of releasing the bubbles since the kombucha is so acidic.
I know plastic degrades from the acidity, although I'm not sure about why colored glass isn't used either.
Anyway, can I pour the kombucha into a colored glass cup to drink it? Will the cup degrade faster as it is exposed to more acidity? Will a quick rinse afterward make it as good as new...
