Almost been 2 weeks in the bottle and it is tasting pretty good! Nicely carbonated and has some nice spicy characteristics to it. I'm also getting a little bit of bannana flavor...it's not horrible, just unexpected. Could this be from under pitching yeast?
I bottled this today and it tasted amazing! 3711 took it all the way down 1.000 from 1.068! Can't wait for this one to carb up, thanks for sharing the recipe.
Brewing the original recipe right now with SWMBO. Everything was going good until I started the boil and my cheap burner that I've been using for the past year capped out. Off to the store to get another real quick! Thanks for the recipe Yooper, excited for this brew!
When I brewed this I did not keep them in the fermentor. I racked to a secondary and dry hopped with cocoa nibs. If you felt like there wasn't enough mint in there I'm sure you could add more tea bags once the primary fermentation was done.
I bottled this today and the sample I pulled tasted amazing! The vanilla was very present but not too overwhelming. Can't wait to try this again in a couple of weeks, thanks for sharing the recipe!
My homebrew is on the left and the DFH 60 min is on the right. Mine isn't quite a malty but has a much better hop aroma and flavor. Super happy with how this turned out.
Brewed this up 8 days ago on 02/14/15. Took a gravity reading tonight and the sample is tasting amazing! Can't wait to get this one bottles and carbed up.
Cracked open a bottle last night after being bottled for only 12 days. Tasted pretty freaking amazing already! The mint came through very nicely. I cut back the cocoa powder in the boil because I dry hopped with nibs, because of that I didn't get the level of chocolate taste as I was hoping for...
Day number 9 in the primary and I am down to 1.014 from 1.064! Sample tasted pretty dang amazing! I could use a little more chocolate so I'm going to secondary with some cocoa nibs.
So I just came from my LHBS to get everything I needed to brew this tomorrow. The only problem is that they were out of Irish ale yeast. I bought some US-05 and Wyeast 1728 Scottish Ale. Any suggestions on which of these to use? Or maybe even a different one? Any help is greatly appreciated!
