    Vienna/Centennial SMaSH

Hey guys, I'm giving this a shot tomorrow afternoon, have bought all of my ingredients and am ready to get busy. I'm using the exact recipe in the first post, also with the S05. I just built a new mash tun out of an igloo cooler so i'll be busting my cherry on the mash tun and smash beers in...

    Kitchen with open shelving...?

Not to mention painting cabinet doors is a pain the arse. But personally my 2 year old would use your dishes as target practice. Not sure if you have kids or plan to but something to consider.

Inconsistent mash temp in rectangle cooler

I'm on my 2nd AG batch and I'm trying to hit 154 as my mash temp, in some areas of the cooler it's right there, others it's 158, others it's 148-150, I've stirred a decent amount and dont want to F up my braid at the bottom by stirring more. I'm not really going to sweat it this time, but i do...

How do you use gelatin finings?

How many of you are using gelatin and irish moss? I've got my first AG batch racked in secondary and I threw in some moss with 15min left in the boil, i'm thinking of cold crashing with some gelatin as well.

This is a great resource for a new AG brewer like myself. I'm going to throw my numbers in from my first batch that I did a few weeks ago and see how far I was off. I'll definitely use it for my next batch, cheers to you sir.

    beer enthusiast from NC!

Small world, I'm a new brewer in Winston as well. I've been brewing with my dad on and off for a year or so and plan on doing my first solo venture next weekend. Anyways you're more than welcome to come see me or my dad brew, and I'm an infrequent member of the Worthawgs in Winston, but you...

1st time AG brew: are these can't miss recipes?

Heeding your advice I may do the Coldwater first and wait and do the Brown the following weekend. The only reason I was going for two is that wifey is going out of town so I'd have the whole day to dork out and brew. I'll be sure to post pics, thanks to all!

1st time AG brew: are these can't miss recipes?

I've helped my padre with a few AG brews, but this month I'm buying the equipment and doing my first solo venture. I'm going to brew two batches in one day, probably one after another. I'm not trying to juggle too much at once and doing them at the same time. Here's what I'm planning to brew...
