    Brew Dogs

I'd really love to see recipes for the beers they brew. I suppose it would be possible to guess and get something close, but there are things they don't mention, like yeast types or even quantities... Perhaps if anyone does have a crack at reproducing any of the beers (or if James or Martin...

Has anyone built an outdoor kitchen with brewing in mind?

As I look further into this, I'm thinking I'm going to want to integrate something like a couple of these burners into my countertop, as I can't find any proper cooktops with sufficient heat output for less than $1000 or more. I'm going to be making my counter top out of tile over cement board...

Has anyone built an outdoor kitchen with brewing in mind?

Do you have any plans or pictures of the layout you used? I'm thinking of either building a single level sculpture into the design or just adding a power burner (or possibly two) next to the grill/range.

Has anyone built an outdoor kitchen with brewing in mind?

I'm planning on building an outdoor kitchen - it will be under a roof, but only two walls. Plan is to have a Smoker/Barbeque, a couple of sinks and a gas range. I'm planning that the gas range be more along the lines of a one level brewing sculpture than a normal cooktop. Has anyone done...

    Keezer Foaming?

Have you tried swapping things over? I'd start by swapping the keg connections to see if the foaming follows the beer or stays with the tap. If it stays with the tap, I'd then swap the taps over to make sure it's not an issue there. Depending on what you find, you've then narrowed the problem...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Here's the funniest thing I've ever heard about beer. You may need to be old and British to really understand all the references though...

Finally found a decent way to display the menu

I just painted the top of my Keezer with blackboard paint, so I can write the menu on the Keezer itself. Unfortunately 3 of the 4 items have a line through them right now. Four taps, only one dispensing beer. I've got 5 gallons each of AltBier, Honey Porter and Hefewiesen in fermenters, but I...

Can I use sugar instead of malt extract?

By the way, thanks for all the rapid and helpful responses! This is a great forum :mug:

Can I use sugar instead of malt extract?

Doh! Panic over, I was reading the wrong side of the instructions, and read the 9 lb of grain that would have been required if I wasn't doing extract. Turns out I've got everything I need in the right quantities, the only thing missing is my being smart enough to read the right recipe :o

Can I use sugar instead of malt extract?

I've already started making a 5 gallon batch of bitter, but have just realized that they only put 6 pounds of LME in the kit instead of the 9 pounds that the recipe calls for. I've got a spare 1 pound of DME I can add, should I throw a couple of pounds of sugar in there as well, given I've no...

What I did for beer today

Kegged my Red and my Milk Stout. Just need to wait a couple of weeks to tap it - and to make room in the kegerator...

What I did for beer today

Brewed up five gallons of Milk Stout and five gallons of Red using the turkey fryer I got from Home Depot a month ago. It's nice to be able to do full boils rather than 2.5 gallons.

What's your favorite online store for beer kits?

I've used both MoreBeer.com and NorthernBrewers.com, and like them both. NorthernBrewer.com has, IMHO, a much better web site - in particular all their kits are rated by actual customers, so you can get a good idea of what the kit is actually like. BUT - MoreBeer.com offers free shipping, and...

What I did for beer today

Just bought a ready to go four tap keezer from someone who has gone professional. All I need to do now is brew more beer..... so I just ordered a Pliny the Elder kit from MoreBeer.com

    best beer you ever made!

I call it "Feck Off!", it's this kit from Mountain Home Brew, I throw a full cafetiere of very strong fresh brewed coffee into the fermenter. The name comes from "Father Ted", an excellent comedy program you can still get on Netflix.
