Home brewer to Nano brewer to running a top 100 BA craft brewery - and an invitation.

Hey everyone. Its been a while since I've posted here and a lot has happened since I posted the "Things I learned going from home to nano brewer" thread back in 2009 (Things I learned going from Home to Nanobrewer...). My family bought Anderson Valley Brewing Company and I became President &...

Things I learned going from Home to Nanobrewer...

Nope - not bottling. Draft only. Watch for it at Healdsburg Bar & Grill, Bergamot Alley, Sprenger's, Heritage Public House, Beer Revolution and a few other venues...

Things I learned going from Home to Nanobrewer...

Hey everyone. For heat I'd been using propane, but recently had an adjustable tankless water heater installed (which I hacked to put out heat up to 180 deg if I want) so my propane use is way way down. In terms of costs per bbl for materials and propane and whatnot is about $85 per bbl. I, and...

Hey there. Cheers! Yup, I've got some plans for the brewery, but for the moment they're on the back burner because I'm busy with my other business. In the meantime, I'm focusing the brewery pn just making exceptional beer. Definitely have plans, though...

Uh - no. The TTB doesn't do anything like that. They want your paperwork in order so that you pay taxes. That's about it. There's a section for disclosure of waste water that needs to be filled in, but the TTB doesn't really inspect anything other than forms.

Things I learned going from Home to Nanobrewer...

Hey everybody. Great to see this thread is still alive and kicking. I've got a friend in the neighborhood that has just taken up home brewing and I'm having fun getting back to roots by helping him out with 5 gal partial mash batches. He's already telling me that his system is too small, "do I...

Things I learned going from Home to Nanobrewer...

Hey everyone. Just to answer a few questions... Hey dallasdb. I brew generally 35 gallons a batch (6 five gallon kegs and some left over for the house, samples, etc.). Hi funkapottomous. Generally no - you're not likely to replace your day job unless you're working crazy hours and have no...

Hi. Haven't been here in a while, but figured I'd stop in. The brewery is turing 3 years old in July so I thought I'd take a look at this thread again. Jtakacs - you'll have to come to Healdsburg or go to Oakland. I'm at Healdsburg Bar & Grill, Affronti or Beer Revolution (unless they've run...

Blichmann HopRocket - hopback / Randall

Hey everyone... Discovered I'm a moron and missed that this gets free shipping out of Austin Homebrew... so I'll let it go for $100 shipped (so long as it isn't to some crazy expensive place) and I'll throw in some leaf hops. I've got about 12 -14 oz of 4 different kinds of hops I was going to...

Blichmann HopRocket - hopback / Randall

Thanks! It's pretty darn well designed (I buy Blichmann whenever possible) but my brewhouse is a bit big...

Blichmann HopRocket - hopback / Randall

I've got a brand new Blichmann HopRocket hopback / Randall. Used once. I'm selling it because I'm brewing on a 1+ bbl system and its a bit small for the amount of wort that I need to put through it. Retails for $119.99. Selling for $100.00 even, plus shipping from 95448. Check it out at...

Things I learned going from Home to Nanobrewer...

Hey crlova2. Its because production of the beer is covered by my license from the ABC. If I was operating a taphouse or tasting room, I might have to get Health Department approval, but it depends on the local office. Typically, around here anyway, if I'm not serving food I'd be able to run a...

Awesome that this thread is almost a year old and still part of the conversation. Hophead75 - yeah, wineries are different and you would need a separate license IF the authority to server is under their winegrowers license, which is basically a tasting room scenario where you can't serve...
