    Does this look like bacteria/infection?

I brewed my first stout a few months ago and noticed the same thing. I thought it was the beginning of an infection but it turned out to be hop seeds that made its way to the surface.

    bottles carbonated in 8 days

Is there such a thing as too warm when bottle carbonating? I did have my cases of this ipa that's carbonated and a case of stout that i used corn sugar near the heater. The stout is flat btw.

    bottles carbonated in 8 days

I decided to be inpatient and since i was out of beer (and beer money for that matter) i would crack open one of my IPAs early last night....to my surprise it was perfectly carbonated with a thick creamy head....in fact it was one of my best beers i brewed yet. So the only thing i did different...

    mold or yeast

Thank you....i know the picture isn't the best.....i just thought it was weird that the white spots popped up out of nowhere

    mold or yeast

Noticed this in my secondary. When i look from the side the shots look very spherical. Is this yeast you think? If its not should i filter before bottling our chuck it?

Can an igloo cooler be fixed?

Silicone maybe.....i know its waterproof, can handle high temps and an pretty certain its food safe. Its used in aquariums. Epoxy also can handle the high temps....just don't know if its food safe.

turning large coffee pot into kettle

I scored when my church was throwing away a nice stainless steel 4 gallon coffee pot that still works. It has a 1500w element. Its heat controlled with a simple thermostat that is clipped to the bottom of the pot. I want to bypass this thermostat since the pot gets really close to boiling and...

bottled a beer i wish was more hoppy

I was hoping maybe i could open each bottle and drop a hop pellet in them but i fear infection too much. I'm definitely gonna hop one or more bottles to get an idea how much more hop flavoring i want when i brew my next batch (i have two of these kits)

bottled a beer i wish was more hoppy

That's how i try to look at it...I'm new to brewing so i certainly can't expect perfection each time....as long as I'm continuing to learn I'm going in the right direction. Thanks for the feedback! ::mug::

bottled a beer i wish was more hoppy

To bad....i was hoping some of the hop flavor would stand out after bottle conditioning....guess i know now that's not the case....its still a good beer and I'm gonna enjoy it anyways! :) Thanks !

bottled a beer i wish was more hoppy

Once a beer is bottled is it too late to add hop flavor? This is one of those moments i wish i kegged.

why do some commercial beers give me headaches?

I could never figure out why some commercial beers....especially coors, bud, miller....will give me a nasty headache after about 2...sometimes even just 1. When i drink my homebrew i never get them..ever...just a nice clean buzz and i wake up feeling great. Anyone else have the same problem? I...

    modifying extract kits

Yeah i used chunks of peeled apple and steeped them in my brew put before boiling...along with the apple extract because allot of people said the apple ale wasn't very appley with just the extract. I find it to be to sweet and the apple flavor is overpowering...however it just finished...

    modifying extract kits

So i got in over my head buying kits for xmas and Thanksgiving and didn't leave enough time to brew the apple ale and holiday ale in time for xmas. I brewed an apple ale already for Thanksgiving which is ready and quite frankly i wish it was a little more hoppy.....I'm thinking of not adding...

hoping i don't have bottle bombs

I forgot to add that it was in the secondary for three weeks. Not having a way to check FG has been problematic. I bottled a batch of apple ale a week ago and it cleared out really nicely and much faster than the pumpkin. I just figured that the pumpkin might have made it cloudy.
