I built my Mash Tun about a year ago. Got everything from HomeDepot in one trip and saved about 50% on the cost from a pre-built. Here is the YouTube video I used. They also have a site with a good shopping list. One word of advice... skip the braid for the false bottom...
I'm in the Raeford area. I don't have experience in building a e-HERMS, but do have about 20 years experience with electronics. Actually trying to get my first batch brewed in the new house today.
The wife an I have a full plate up-until after the holidays... but I should be available...
I've been brewing for a couple of years as well. I'm doing a kit just to get my brewing legs back under me... been out of it for about 6 months.
Not sure how many brews we would like to try to do at once? I normally make a Heffe from all-grain if anyone is intrested?
I could be in for a brew session after the holidays. Haven't brewed anything since I moved here from Oklahoma.
Plan on brewing a NB Nut Brown Ale kit next weekend. Need to work through brew day at a new house... should be easier than the old apartment.
Any all grain brewers?
I'm with you Smitty... looking for a decient selection that is fresh. I've passed a store on the 401 called Beer and Wine... just wondering if they have brew supplies?
Thanks for the info. Sounds like I will be ordering grain in bulk... minimalize trips to Raleigh. I'm not against a little wine brew as well. Look forward to maybe getting a local group together... if we don't already have one?

In Works...
I had a lot of trub in my pot... ~1.5 gals worth. Ended up with about 3.5 gals and my OG was 1.060, so should I top off with boiled water to make up the difference? I'm just worried the IBUs will be too high to enjoy the beer.
Thanks pinback, I was thinking if I do this recipe again, I would...
I think these videos may have just answered some questions for me. I just finished my 2nd AG last night (Bee Cave Brewery Rye IPA). Since this is only my 2nd AG and I'm living in an apartment, my equipment list is limited. 2 items on my wish list is a gas burner and wort chiller.
Anyway...
I will be retiring there this summer. Picked up the hobby again once I returned from overseas. This was suppose to be a way for me to decrease the cost of my beer taste, but has been slowly getting out of hand! ;) Would love to get together with other brewers in the area once I get settled...
This is my 5th brew (2nd AG). This will be a great retirement gift to myself. Can't wait to share it with all of my friends and family.
Ed, I checked out your Hefe recipe. Wish I would have read the thread ahead of time... I woke, around 2 A.M. to a pop! Found the lid to my primary had...
