    Wort Chiller Pump Choice

I was thinking of ordering this. Is it enough? http://www.amazon.com/Grech-CHJ-6000-Aquarium-Submersible-Fountain/dp/B00H6TN8JI

What craft beer do you secretly despise?

Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout. I don't even see how they call it a stout!

    Triskel Hops?

I know this is a little late but I just got an email from Farmhouse Brewing and they just got them in stock.

    Freezing Yeast

Was thinking about giving it a try and I found these on Ebay. Do they look good? http://www.ebay.com/itm/50-mL-Elkay-Printed-Pro-Centrifuge-Tubes-Bag-of-50-/370481849006?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item56427062ae#ht_641wt_893

    1st attempt at growing barley

It's Robust barley which is a 6-row barley. The 2-row doesn't fair so well down here in the deep south.

    1st attempt at growing barley

I'm going to have to harvest it by hand. The area is probably 600-800 sq. ft. I'll probably cut it down with a scythe and then thresh it in a pillow case

    1st attempt at growing barley

Yeah, I'm going to give malting a try. There are quite a few videos on youtube. I figured I'd start out just making a base malt and just buy my specialty malts

    1st attempt at growing barley

No secret techniques. Tilled the earth, scattered the seed with one of those rotary grass seed planters and just let it grow. Didn't have to use any fertilizer and we've had so much rain this year it just grew great all by itself. Probably should have put some kind of nitrogen to it early in...

    Trellis idea

I wasn't thinking about the poles on public property. I was thinking about the pole in my yard where I'm the one actually cutting the grass around it.

    Trellis idea

Just had an idea cross my mind. Those anchor cables on power poles seem like they would make a pretty good trellis. I wonder what the power company would say if I had my hops growing up their cable. Does anyone think it would cause a problem?
