Adding fruit to secondary, how to sanitize the fruit?

thanks for the quick reply! sounds like a plan. my only issue is that i don't use plastic anymore - only glass carboys. i'm thinking about straining the blueberries after i steep and before i add to the primary. let us know how it tastes, tom!

quick question...when you racked to secondary and put the blueberries in...did you rack to a 7 gallon or 5 gallon carboy? trying to figure out if i need to get another set of carboys to do fruit beers... thanks in advance!

    Coopers Ginger Beer

how did the judging go, DT? my batch of Ginger IPA just finished fermenting - krauesen finally fell last night, so i'll be moving it to secondary tonight & dry-hopping more fresh ginger. it took 10 days to finish fermenting! i don't use a hydrometer, so i can't tell you any readings. :eek...

Need an Extract Recipe For Vanilla Nut Brown Ale

Thanks for the response NUCC98. I think I may chance it as well. I bought mine at Trader Joes in DC - need to check the bottle, but I'm hoping it's organically grown. Man I can't wait! It's so hard to decide what batch to do next! I have a Belgian Blonde Ale kit that I must brew first, but...

Need an Extract Recipe For Vanilla Nut Brown Ale

How'd it turn out? Still jet-fuel-y? And NUCC98, do I need to sterilize the vanilla bean at all? I just did a lemon corriander weiss and it required me to microwave the lemon zest for 30 seconds before putting it in the secondary. Do you think I should do the same to the bean or no?
