Also, WhiteLabs offers a full compliment of tests and will do so for homebrewers. I don't know what the costs are but I have talked with the people there and they said they will do things on a homebrew scale.

Don't have any myself but WhiteLabs themselves does this tap handle in their tasting room. And it is pretty neat, see pic here http://www.whitelabs.com/white-labs-tasting-room
I was thinking they are mushrooms. I guess I have never seen mushrooms at day 1. If you look closely the top is flat and really thin. It feels like a leaf. That is why I thought it might be some kind of flower or plant instead of a mushroom.
Just noticed these this morning. Not sure what they are. Anyone have any ideas?
Should I pull them out?

P.S. Sorry for the the crappy iPhone quality pictures
Hey I am in your neck of the woods too. I would be interested in learning from some more experienced brewers. I am out of town until July but after that I would be up for a group brew (that is if you don't mind a young whippersnapper hanging out with the old farts ;) )
to the OP, if the group...

I have a RIS going right now. I made a SNPA clone using WLP001 and then pitched my RIS ontop of the cake from the SNPA. All appears to be going swimmingly . :mug:
Have you seen any one who has converted one of these? Size wise I know it will work.
I am wondering about the placement of the refrigerant line? Is it similar to the Sanyo, so that you can drill through the top and run a tower setup like so many have on the Sanyo's.
Really interesting idea.
If you think about the concentrate just like any other fruit addition maybe that would help? If I were going to make a Grape Wheat beer I think I would add the concentrate to secondary like you would with fruit additions.
Maybe boil a small amount of concentrate and...
When I was in High School a friend of mine had a few emu's. I remember opening his fridge one day and flipping out because I thought he was hatching dinosaurs Jurassic Park style. The eggs are green and huge.
One egg made a scramble for the whole family and me which was 7 people.
I checked this one out at my BB last night. It does appear to be nearly identical to the 4912.
Has anyone actually converted one of these? I am wondering about the refrigerant line placement. I think BB would look at me weird if I walked in with Corn Starch and Rubbing Alcohol and starting...
Hi all,
I am relatively new as well and I am up in Carlsbad. I would be interested in a brew fest. I have been thinking of checking out one of the north county clubs as well. Do they take kindly young whippersnappers? (I am 26) :)
Hey nice to meet you. I am relatively new as well and I am in Carlsbad (near La Costa Canyon High School).
I used to live in Encinitas by San Dieguito Academy.
P.S. just hit your site and it was down just FYI.

There is a local brew here (made by the Pizza Port / Lost Abbey boys) called Black Lie. It is a special brew made for the favored local pub "Liars Club." It is a black IPA.
Very strange the first time I had it but it is very much and IPA except it is black. It is an awesome beer.
