    Man, I love Apfelwein

Just got home with my 6 gallons of Indian Summer aj and yeast and sugar. Looking forward to this! I do have a quick question though. Since I'll be bottling still into wine bottles and corking, is there anything I should add before getting ready to prevent bottle bombs, or should I be safe?

Using the CO2 from brewing for a planted fish tank

Now I just wonder if you could have avoided selling the tanks and converted them into fermenters. Cleaning is easy enough, just have to figure out what to do about being able to open it to pour stuff in and get stuff out while being able to maintain an airtight seal in between. I foresee very...

Using the CO2 from brewing for a planted fish tank

I'm seriously starting to get worried. I've already got multiple tank syndrome. Pretty soon my entire house will be filled with giant class containers full of some sort of liquid. Where do I sleep?! :cross:

Using the CO2 from brewing for a planted fish tank

Ha, I've noticed from various forum searches that if you can think of it, odds are someone else has beat you to it. :D Figuring out a good way to do this seems like a great idea though, as almost everyone usually has something brewing at one time or another. Why waste perfectly good CO2. Haha. :)

Mad science lab in the kitchen

I was thinking of just buying a 500ml one to drink out of and be able to take funny pictures...but I should have known people would actually be using these things. Now to find a good deal on a lab coat! Mwahahaha!

    Island Mist Green Apple Riesling

I wish I could, but lugging a 6 gallon carboy all the way downstairs and into the kitchen would be one heck of a task. I'm thinking of just putting down the spill mat I have for refilling my aquariums next time. And I have no idea what was going through my head that made me forget about it.

    Island Mist Green Apple Riesling

I finally bottled my first adventure into brewing today. Needless I spilled a good amount of it on the carpet and my pants, due to underestimating the speed at which the bottles fill up and a frustrating bottle filler that kept getting the little tip stuck. Reading through all the stuff...

Using the CO2 from brewing for a planted fish tank

Thanks. Forgot about checking this. I'm probably gonna be getting some 1 gallon or so carboys for Christmas to use for experimenting. Looking forward to it. Especially in the limited amount of space I have available, lifting 6 or so gallons somewhere high enough to siphon is "fun". XD

Using the CO2 from brewing for a planted fish tank

Maybe that is why it tasted so awful! ;) After I figured out that the process was basically the same as for brewing, I let my curiosity get the better of me. Never again. Anyways, as far as actually using the setup for CO2 injection anymore, I've realized Flourish Excel will suffice for my...

I meant, using what I already have. The 2nd bottle works as the airlock.

    Brewmaster Fartknocker!!

I liked the beer they sent out that made you start seeing hallucinations of pygmy gnomes in little voodoo masks poking at you with spears and you could hear drums pounding in the background. While I was amused, I'm sure my character hated me for it. :)

Got any cubers in the house?

That is what we call high society! :)

Got any cubers in the house?

Never successfully completed one myself. I usually screw around for 5 minutes or so, get pissed, and chuck it at the nearest wall. :(

Using the CO2 from brewing for a planted fish tank

I was wondering if anyone else had ever done this? I did it for a while in the spring, but kinda got bored of changing things out every 2 weeks or so. Basically, you take one of those big plastic pop bottles, drill 2 holes in the cap. You use aquarium silicone and put 2 tubes into the bottle...
