grain mill. It crushes the endosperm which crumbles and separates from the husk. Yeah, there's a tear to let the insides out, but for the most part the husk is intact.

The method on the two sites seem feasible. And yes they are cheaper ways. I have a Maxkson vacuum sealer, bought from crazysales, to seal hops; it was at great discount and cheap...cheap, cheap... is how my friends label me. Convenient to seal and open with a vacuum sealer. Also resealing is solid.

It seems great for storage

I use ¾ cup corn sugar or cane sugar 1 cup malt extract or ½ cup of honey 2 cups of water

It is normal. If it is infected, it would be green or grey instead of white
