    I want it skunky...

    I want it skunky...

Heineken (and most Belgian beer) tastes like crap anyway. I want a beer that will kick me in the teeth with flavor. I've tried beer from Avery, Deschutes, Heavy Seas, Caldera Brewing Co, Flying Dog... You name it, I've probably tried it; from Pale Ales to Barley Wines. I want a beer that'll...

    A botched recipe?

Ja, this is my first brewing and I followed as the recipe said so I'm hoping it isn't too bad. I'm thinking that maybe I should start another batch soon for Christmas. It's tradition that our family shares our brew and I wouldn't want to disapoint my father with an unsavory beer, especially...

    A botched recipe?

It was suggested that I post this as a separate thread so: Here's a question that I was curious about. Is it necessary to use dry malt base if you're already using a liquid malt extract? I used three pounds of light liquid extract and am expecting about 4 gallons of beer. The recipe was...

Maybe skunky isn't the correct word. The imported Urquell has a bitter-sweet finish, I suppose that's the best way to describe it. I'm enjoying one right now. Okay, here's what I used for my recipe: 3.3 Pounds Light Malt Extract 3.5 Gallons of Water 3 oz Saaz 1 oz yeast 1 Chuck Norris...

    I want it skunky...

Yeah, I think that PU (no pun intended) has a rather skunky flavor to it. It's been around 56F since for the past 18 hours or so. If I'm remembering correctly that should be pretty good temp for lagering.

    I want it skunky...

I've started a batch of generic pilsner and I used Saaz to give it a skunky flavor. Now this is my first batch and I'm really curious as to how it'll turn out. I'm hoping for something along the lines of a Pilsner Urquell or the like. Any comments?

Vilent ferment - first time using liquid yeast.

Holy Moses!! That's incredible! I wish my batch had a fraction the activity yours does! I've only got a couple inches of krauesen.

Here's a question that I was curious about. Is it necessary to use dry malt base if you're already using a liquid malt extract? I used three pounds of light liquid extract and am expecting about 4 gallons of beer. Am I going to be disappointed? Wait...I can make beer?!

I too, have just started my first brew ever. Although I may have killed some, if not most of my yeast because I forgot to ice my wort. It was still about 90F when I pitched my yeast but I have a nice thick krauesen on it so I'm not too worried. Wait...I can make beer?!
