Kent plastic quick connects from bargainfittings.com

Finally got my review posted. Held pressure and cleans up well. Overall the carbonation wasn't great but that's not the cap's fault. I just need to give it more time and pressure. :-) Thanks again for the opportunity.

Kent plastic quick connects from bargainfittings.com

I picked one up. I just set up a leaky home made carbonator cap with tire valves. I'm looking forward to seeing if this holds pressure better. I saw this option before but was worried about the plastic durability. I'll let you know how the test turns out. Thanks!

    Group buy in sacramento

It's 11 for shipping per bag. I think the standard pale 2 row was 35 + shopping. If you're in the area they have will call. I'm going to try to get my brother to grab me a sack. It's my first all grain so I'm excited.

    Group buy in sacramento

Thanks for the tip. I'll give them a call for the price. It's a little out of my way to save 20 bucks. At more beer I can get a sack delivered for 45-55 bucks. If it's 20 bucks cheaper than that I'll be picking up a variety this weekend. :-) thanks for the tip.

I'll interested as well. Did you find a good solution or are you still looking? I'm thinking of starting all grain and I'm curious what the best way to save on grains is.

    First time grower (?) question.

I'm in nor-cal too. It depends how warm the soil is and how fresh the rhizomes are. Potted plants will sprout faster than ones planted in soil. I got mine the week before easter and planted them in the ground right away. After this week's heatwave my first bine came up two days ago. Now, of...

Hop Growers in San Fran and Sacremento area

let me know how they turn out. My fuggles just broke ground with this heat wave. I have 5 or so on one rhizome and 1 on the other. My cascade has one bine that is already starting to open the leaves. can't wait until the rest get going. good luck! BDR, I'll be looking for hop bines (in a...

Hop Growers in San Fran and Sacremento area

There is a good sticky on this forum for a comparison of flavors, resistances, AA% and styles. Midwest supplies closed their pages that I usually reference. Good thing google caches the internet. :D Tettnang : 4.0-5.0% AA. Grows well in moderate climates, suffers a little in hot climates...

Hop Growers in San Fran and Sacremento area

That's good to hear that your fuggles are doing well. I was worried that it might be too hot and that they might suffer in the heat. It's already been 2 weeks with no sprouts and I'm getting anxious. =)

Cool let me know if you ever want to trade hops. You can never have too much variety. Hopefully all of the species thrive.

Hop Growers in San Fran and Sacremento area

I just started too. Planted cascade, chinook, nugget, and fuggles in west sacramento. I'm curious what everyone else is planting and their successes in nor cal. I tried to get a variety of flavor and aroma hops and a variety of growing conditions, hot/cool climate thickness but only have space...

    Smoker wood chips for wine?

I have some wood chips that I use for my smoker. Oak, cherry, mesquite, etc. has anyone tried using these chips in a similar manner to oak cubes? I figure I can bake/broil to toast them and to ensure they are sterile. I'll be adding them to the secondary so i'm less concerned w/ contamination. I...

    2nd batch ever, any suggestions???

Did you ferment it on the flowers? Or strain it off after steeping it? Any updates on how it turned out after dry hopping it? I'll be grabbing ingredients next week I think.

    Preparation of White Labs Yeast

That is all I did for my first one and it turned out fine. You can make a starter if you want. I typically do for my liquid yeasts. Depending on how rich your must is, you may need to dilute it but since you are making a sweet mead i'm assuming you are making an average must. There is no set...
