Agreed. A starter is the way to go for big beers. I've read it's a good idea for brews above 1.055 O.G.

The Pliney clone from Morebeer is awesome. Was actually put together in collaboration with Russian River Brewing. Lots of hop additions throughout the process on this one. Well worth the effort.

This was a "limited release" kit that I have purchased. It's called heavy but doesn't drink like one. Beware. Fellow homebrewers and those who only live the "High Life" alike will guzzle this one.

NB Kama Citra is another good one.

Also don't forget to adjust for temperature.

Does anyone know of a good formula to use to calculate boil off. I've been brewing full boils for a while now and keep ending up short of my five gallon target. I've had some trouble finding refence material on the subject. I use a 10 gallon boilermaker pot. I guess my question is this...
