Funny things you've overheard about beer

This probably more painfully bizarre than funny. Drinking down at my local Vet's Club the other day, where I try not to mention or talk about homebrewing (as you can imagine, it's an older-BMC crowd, very suspicious/superstitious bunch), but I start talking with this younger guy I've known for...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Oh yeah, and my girlfriend just reminded me of the time we were at our local discount beverage store and we ran into a rep from the Ithaca Beer Co giving out samples. We were kind of in a hurry, and the case of Anchor Steam I was carrying was getting kind of heavy. The Rep seemed like a nice...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

My dad was a Labatt Blue drinker for a long time, but the past couple of years he's been drinking Coors Light. I recently started up home brewing again and he'll come over and check things out, but mostly it's just an excuse to get away from my stepmother and hang out with me for an hour or...

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

Harp. Or Stewart's beer- Mountain something or another... "Mountain Brew," that was the name. Pretty sure it's only available at Stewart's which is sort of an upstate NY ghetto 7-Eleven.

    When do I bottle?

Sounds like you're done, son! If you've had it in your secondary for 10 days with the same FG, I'd go ahead and bottle. I usually go two weeks before trying any, but it's up to you how long you let it bottle-condition. Best of luck!

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

    Any Pumpkin Ale, especially Saranac's.

    When do I bottle?

I'd do more than one FG test, just to make sure... before you bottle. I usually do 3 checks (1 a day- 3 days before bottling) just to make sure the ferment is done, but I usually wait 14 days in the primary, at least, on anything, before considering bottling. If you're getting the same FG for...

    How did you find us?

Heard about this place from a previous (and sort of dead) HB Forum I used to frequent many, many years ago. Seems great so far!

    Hi from CNY

Hello All! I've been an extract brewer since 2004, and haven't brewed a batch that wasn't drinkable- so that's got to count for something. I started brewing partial boils in 2004 while living deep in the bowels of of NY state's Adirondack Park (Saranac Lake) under the name of the 3rd World...
