    India Red Ale recipe

I have been editing a red ale recipe that I tried earlier this year. This is what I have come up with so far. Tell me what you think. Based upon how it looks on paper I could probably consider it an india red ale... Grain: 9 lbs. US 2 row 2 lbs. Vienna malt 0.25 lbs. crystal 20 0.25 lbs...

    Grain crush question

So the LHBS was weighing out my grains for a pale ale I am doing on Monday. I have my own barley crusher so I asked the guy working not to crush the grains. So while I am picking out everything I need for the batch I hear their crusher turn on. I caught him and told him I needed the grains to be...

Deschutes Cinder Cone Red Ale Clone help

I haven't tried making this one yet...still waiting on my hops to arrive. Decided to mash at 152*F instead of 155. You could try some Vienna but I am only using ingredients that were listed by the brewery. In the commercial description of the beer it says 4 types of caramel malt and I only have...

Deschutes Cinder Cone Red Ale Clone help

Aren't they similar? The British ale yeast won't leave as much residual sweetness as the English. Wouldn't that make the beer more balanced? I may still go to the LHBS and get WLP002 English. I haven't used either of these strains so I don't know from experience (only 40 gallons under my belt).

Deschutes Cinder Cone Red Ale Clone help

The link I followed from the brewery's website shows all the ingredients needed. However they will not tell you the mash temp, weights/amounts for the ingredients, etc... After trying several times to adjust the grain bill and hop schedule, I think I may have gotten near where I want to be for...

    Odd Fermenting Question

I have a belgian kiwi wit going right now...my airlock does the same thing...but I just leave it alone as I do not like messing with the fermentor after I have pitched yeast (unless I need to adjust temp)

What do you do with your spent grains?

I have been using mine to feed the ducks and geese in my neighborhood....they seemed to enjoy the heck out of it (especially when their eggs hatched and the young ones needed to eat)! My batches have been partial mash so it was 3 1/2 pounds....all gone in a couple days

    Hello from Atlanta

What's up everyone? I am new to homebrewing. I got a Brewer's Best Deluxe Equipment kit for Xmas and I had a 5 gallon glass carboy sitting around the house...so I can do 2 batches at once thus far (the kit had a carboy in it as well). I just started my fourth batch. Here is what I have brewed...
