    Environment Friendly Wort Chiller

I have no idea what a therminator is. What is HLT? The freezer is on regardless of whether or not I am brewing, so that doesn't matter. Meat, etc doesn't play nice in the warm air. The bill isn't my concern. Thanks for the ideas. I think saving it for laundry seems like a very...

    Environment Friendly Wort Chiller

The two brews were done months apart, otherwise that isn't a bad idea. :)

    Environment Friendly Wort Chiller

I think that sounds like the easiest and cheapest solution. Are you suggesting adding ice into the actual container, or maybe keeping the ice in tupperware and dropping it into where the old water is coming out to avoid contamination? AZ_IPA mentioned that he found out that about 20 gallons...

    Environment Friendly Wort Chiller

So, here's the deal: I've brewed one batch of beer, and I am working on my second. As of now I am doing what most of you would consider a no-no, and I am cooling my wort down with ice. I disinfect some tupperware, fill it with water, put a lid on the tupperware, and put it in the freezer so...

    Filter Hop From Primary Fermentation

4 and 4 meaning 4 in the primary, 4 in the bottle? Thanks for your help. I am in no rush to get my beer finished, I am just after a quality brew. Unfortunately I am back at school and won't be home until mid December. I think I will tell my dad to siphon it to secondary sometime next week...

    Filter Hop From Primary Fermentation

Thanks for your help so far. I didn't open the top, I took a sample from the bottom. The word is escaping me right now, but there is a valve at the bottom of what the fermenting wort is in, so I took a sample that way so I would avoid opening it from the top. I use hop pellets, so does that...

    Filter Hop From Primary Fermentation

I haven't opened the lid, nor did I say that I had. So, you are saying leave it in the primary fermenter for at least a total of a week? Then I could move it to the secondary? Also, nobody answered my question for clearing up hop residue. I know a lot of it will be left behind when I...

    should i dry hop?

I agree, if you're pretty cautious and don't like really hoppy bears, .25oz would be just a small noticeable amount. If you really like them hoppy though, bump it up.

    Filter Hop From Primary Fermentation

I am currently brewing my first IPA. I threw in about 6-7oz of hops during the wort boiling, and then I dry hopped 2oz during the primary fermentation (I know secondary is most common, I probably will not do primary again). My question is, how do I clean up the beer a bit? There is a nice...
