    Advice on grain bill

so it looks like you have about 9.25 pounds of a base malt and 2.5 pounds wheat. This gives a ration of about 27% wheat to base malt. I make a simple blonde ale with 80% base to 20% wheat. Its super easy and enjoyable across all spectrums of beer drinkers. The last batch I did used 20% flaked...

    Spike Fermenter users... Lil help?

@k-os Do you find there is a lot of waste beer in the cone of the Flex, or is it mostly trub? How many gallons of wort can you safely add to the flex+? Thanks

    Spike Fermenter users... Lil help?

I am in the midsts of looking how to make my own glycol chiller. I just bought an air conditioning unit off Facebook. However, if my math is correct, I can fit the two FLex+ in the refrigerator. So glycol today is not going to happen. The Spike line allows me to upgrade as time goes on. I was...

    Spike Fermenter users... Lil help?

Honestly, I am considering two flex+ vs. one CF10. I guess I forgot to mention that. The reason I like two vessels instead of one is I can use different yeasts and dry hops, etc.

    Spike Fermenter users... Lil help?

Hi all... I am in the market to upgrade my equipment and I think I have settled on Spike. I am looking at the Flex+ vs. the CF10. In an effort to save money, I think that my purchase will be the flex+. I have a refrigerator which (I according to how I measured....), will fit the flex+. This...

    Concerned about hops in carboy.

I love 008. It is a slow eater though, especially at your current temps. I would wait just a little bit before adding that extra dose of dry hops. I mean you dont have to but if you want the yeast to eat all the can, I would not be surprised if it took at least another week or two to finish. If...

    Dry hopping without cold crashing?

Was your DIY chiller cold enough? what temp did it get to? So I have glass carboys which I have manufactured to kinda keep air out. Once fermentation is finished, I swap the carboy cap out with a new one. The new one has a balloon on one of the antena while a racking cane is in the other. The...

    Dry hopping without cold crashing?

Greetings, So I am in a bit of a pickle. I am about to dry hop my latest batch but see that my old refrigerator no longer works. I have no place to cold crash the beer once dry hopping is complete. Here's the question: Without using bags or any other item to store the hops, (my process limits...

    Adding Coffee Beans to Keg

So to add a little more food for thought: I added 3oz Kenyan roast (whole bean) to a blonde ale. After 24 hours I started taking samples. They ended up steeping for 3 days before I removed them. I thought the coffee flavor was perfect. It was smooth and flavorful... not over the top, no green...
