- Started on my balcony in 1987 with extract, 2 years later did my first all grain in my kitchen using gravity. HLT on chair on table, MT on table and collected the wurt in bucket on the floor. What a mess. Took about 10 years off while I was living in SF, no room in my tiny apartment. Meet me wife. moved in with her here in Berkeley. Told her I used to brew, she answered with, "And you're not now because?" Craiglist I went, and after a few years I have a 2 kettles and a 10gal igloo system with two pumps and two conicals. I've got 3 taps and loving it. I'm still trying to get my **** together so when I empty my BrewTech, I could just dump fresh word on top to use the yeast. Just once!!! I've got a barrel here that I'd love to keep pumping porter into till she's full. A solera system of sorts. Thinking it might come out like London Porters of old. Probably the bugs would just go nuts and it would become to funky to drink. Dreams.
