Then why is the market so small?

thatjonguy, you said you now use butterfly valves on everything, but they may not be the best for all applications (we're talking home brewing applications). Did it just take some time to adjust to the difference and your are okay with it now, or would you change anything?

When I was describing the idea of a "scaled down" version, I was actually referring to the whole brewing system. As for cost, I am in 100% agreement with you... they are too expensive and I have yet to understand why.

Some have said that the flow rate is difficult to control with butterfly valves. How would you compare the two? BTW, I meant that tri-clamps are widely used in many industries such as the dairy industry.

I can't think of anything with which I would disagree. My preference is to use the tri-clamp mostly commonly found in the dairy industry with whatever type of valve is best suited for the job at hand.

We thoroughly understand how each component works. It is felt that asking questions is a better way to find what people's preferences are instead of prompting them. We'll have to agree to disagree on this point. Again, that has been done... extensively. Quite an interesting comment! We have...

For those with experience using the different types of valves (standard ball valve, 3-piece ball valve and butterfly; threaded and welded), please offer your opinion as to which application you feel each is more/less appropriate. Thanx...

Would you please point out my sharp tone? My scrutiny of the responses has given me some very insightful information such as the ones we've seen from Bensiff. If anyone has been offended, I would assume they would indicate it by stating such or simply ceasing to reply. Nevertheless, if I...

I never promoted this as a cooling device, but rather aided in cooling. Actually, my words were "it would have a small amount of cooling effect when the streams of wort were "sprayed"... But I think the function of this $8 fixture is being misconstrued. It was a simple improvement on a fixture...

CFC? Not sure what that is. Plate Chiller... all that I've read/heard about this unit, other than from die hard supporters, is that it is a pain in the rear to service and for the cost, there are better options.
