    Expired WLP300 Hefeweizen Ale Yeast

Ok.. Just wanted to ask around... I have two vials of WLP300 that had a end of shelf life of July 31, 2014. They were given to me free from my LHBS. I am planning to make a summer wheat beer that I got from AIH and after doing some reading here on HBT... Ive noticed a few suggestions to...

When to perform a diacetyl rest on my Dunkelweizen

I know while doing my homework on this one, someplace I read 62F was a good target... and I recently posted a separate thread on my 3068 yeast starter that I thought had a less than usual thickness when it came to the resulting yeast layer at the bottom.. I think I will maintain the 62F and...

When to perform a diacetyl rest on my Dunkelweizen

Thanks BigPerm You are correct.. Somehow while doing my prep.. I got 62F as the lowest range for this yeast... Wyeast is recommending lowest range of 64f Luckily the yeast are still happily and pretty hardily doing their thing.. The kruasen is starting to peek into the blow...

When to perform a diacetyl rest on my Dunkelweizen

Started a Dunkelweizen yesterday and was looking for some advice on when or if I should do a diacetyl rest.. I made a starter using Wyeast 3068 and pitched when both the wort and the yeast were at 62 degrees F. My OG was 1.050.. I am looking for a FG someplace around 1.012/1.015. At...

    Wyeast 1084 (Irish Ale) Activatior

Hmmmm but one thing to keep in mind should you use this strain again.. It tends to work best when pitching cooler... down into the low to mid 60's I think I pitched in the mid 70's also however and my stout was quite worthwhile

    Wyeast 1084 (Irish Ale) Activatior

Hi Waltzbrewingco.. I have to admit that even though I was skeptical of the starter with the less than inflated yeast... It did take off very strong after pitching.. It even foamed out threw a blow off tube... I talked to a fellow at my LHBS store and he said that out here its not...

    AIH Sol Cerveza Clone

2000ml flask... on a stir plate =) Have Wyeast yeast nutrient... plan to add some of that also... will 1/4 tsp be sufficient with two vials?

    AIH Sol Cerveza Clone

Yeah... I have two vials of the yeast ready for pickup at the LHBS I plan om using both... So will this brew require lagering? with the low temps etc..

    AIH Sol Cerveza Clone

Thanks Malticulous.. You are right.. This yeast does need a much lower temp than the 60's I will set the chamber to 48... What pitching temperature would you aim for?

    AIH Sol Cerveza Clone

Hi All.. Just ordered a Sol Cerveza Clone from Adventures in Home-brewing... This is an extract kit that I have not brewed before.. Was thinking about doing a starter with WLP940 Mexican Lager.. Still wondering how to increase ABV without making a big change in taste.. Plan on...

    NB Dry Irish Stout Questions

Mrdial87 & flars...Thanks for the info... Its good to know that no major alarm bells went off with what I'm experiencing. As for the wirlfloc I had kinda suspected that the dense dark color of the beer would negate any big need for the clarifier.. I had asked because I noticed a few...

    NB Dry Irish Stout Questions

OK... I'm just being curious and wanted to just ask around if all is going okay with my latest batch. I'm still pretty new to brewing and have been reasonably successful with a couple Ales so far. I am making my first attempt at Stouts with the Northern Brewer Dry Irish Stout (5 gallon...
