    Competition BBQ

We just did one last weekend: http://cabbqfestival.com/ And our next comp will likely be at Dana Point. All our comps are local here in So Cal. Here's a write up of last years comp (their first ever): http://blogs.ocweekly.com/stickaforkinit/2011/09/dana_point_bbq_championship.php Not sure if...

    Brisket Marinade and/or Dry Rub

I second the use of Butchers BBQ injection. If you don't want to use that or need something sooner, you can use beef broth. I've never marinaded or brined. I also foil too. It helps speed up the cooking while keeping the brisket moist. I usually add some home brew when I foil as a braising...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

I just checked and I ended up getting 3" shanks with The barbed ends welded on and those worked out perfect

I'm pretty sure 2" shanks don't work. I think I tried that and ended up having to buy longer shanks.

I got mine from Keg Connection. A buck cheaper. Not a whole lot less, but I've had pretty good success ordering from them. Not sure if there are cheaper alternatives, as I didn't shop around. http://stores.kegconnection.com/Detail.bok?no=277

Yeah, I just stick my 20oz tank inside the cooler. Works fine for me. There's a little less room for ice, but it seems fine.

    Bayou Classic SQ14 lift kit

Cool. That's exactly what I need. Wish I had a welder. Maybe I'll try Catt22's black pipe trick.

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

I used 3" shanks with welded on nipples and it worked out well for me. I don't think I would have had enough exposed threaded part of the shank to screw on a nut for a separate nipple where I installed the shank

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

Well I just got my cooler and everything seemed to fit ok. So I don't think Igloo changed the dimensions of the cooler. It looks like the newer kegs are just a bit bigger, as Blue mentioned. Here are few pics for comparison. The first pic shows how both kegs fit. The second pic shows that the...

Wow, thanks for taking the time to take those pics and document all that. Its good to know there's a work around. My kegs look slightly different (I bought them used) so I'm not sure how they'll fit, but I'll let you know once my cooler gets here on Friday.

My 70qt is on order. Didn't realize you had to mod the kegs to fit. That's unfortunate. What size shanks did you end up getting, blue?

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

Anyone ever try costal fog ipa? It was awful. Tasted like something was actually wrong with it. Like it had gone bad. Took two sips then dumped the rest. Unfortunately I had bought a 12 pk. I was about to dump it then my wife said something about washing her hair with it :( hope her hair...

Ever have a credit card number stolen???

Yeah, I'd guess a lot of users on HBT order things from AHS. I hope that isn't the common link for AHS's sake. For what its worth I have 2 orders from AHS last month (28th and 31st) and haven't had any suspicious activity. I just checked my Visa account online and there wasn't anything other...
