I have a vial of San Francisco lager yeast that is 1 year out of date. I decided to make a starter for it about 12 hours ago and it is not bubbling yet. This is my first attempt at doing a starter is there any way of telling if the yeast is dead or is it to early to tell?
I'm in Frankfort Ky. That is at his price. I'm not sure how much they are if someone just comes in and wants a barrel. They have a lot of barrel though and I don't think they reuse them. I think the are about to roll out there 6 millionth barrel shortly and this guys dad who is in his 90's...

I bought a sam adams clone and the recipe says to add hallertau hops the last 15 minutes of the boil. I upgraded the kit to leaf hops and they sent me both hallertau hops and saaz leaf hops. Do I add one or both of these hops? Please help fast!!!!

The space is 20x26 feet. The only thing I have in the room is a bathroom in the corner that is 7' by 7'. So the space where I was going to put the bar was a 13' wall with plumbing roughed in, for a sink, midway. The bar was going to have a backbar on that 13' wall.
I went to an auction where a bar was going out of business and picked up a brass perlick tower with 4 nozzles. Now I have to figure out how to build a bar to screw the tower to and have the hide the kegerator below and still have access to changing out kegs. Right now I have a upright fridge...
I do not have have a refrigerater to dedicate to lagering at this time. I really like Sam Adams, Sam Adams black lager and Blackened voodoo. Is it possible to create these beers using a ale yeast and if so what yeast? Also recipes would be great.
