I still have couple brew days already lined up so mayb I’ll look into making a cooler mash ton to try it out.
the Anvil pump is pretty strong out of the box but I never thought about that so I’m definitely going to run some tests, because I’ll be less inclined if I have to buy a new pump
I have an anvil foundry 10.5 and there’s a 16lb grain limit on those. I’ve seen other posts about doing a double mash to get high abv beers where you mash, dump into a holding kettle, then mash again and combine. This just seems like a lot of work and a lot of time to commit to two mashes.
So...
But are they any good? I’ve used a handful of cheap rags and some don’t even absorb water. They’re just push it around. I could by new kitchen towels and take over the old ones but that will probably be more expensive then buying two packs specifically for brewing. 12 pack of blue stripe bar...
Thanks for all the good advice! I might pick up a pack of the larger bar towels and some small square ones then through them in a bucket if starsan over night and let it leach out as much as it can and then wash them all.
Being a brewer that has to put everything away at the end of the day it’s been easiest to just use the kitchen towels from my house. But I’ve recently upped the frequency of my brew days and I just got my Oktober bench canner. And I found that weekends can be packed with brewing related...
Okay, I was wondering if heat loss was an issue without the lid. Thought it was strange that someone people don’t use it but that makes a lot of sense.
thank you
Looking forward in to 2022 I want to make the step to all grain and start adjusting my recipes from extract to all grain.
I’ve been doing some research and I think I landed on the Anvil Foundry 10.5. My reasoning is I currently rent and Im looking to buy a house in (hopefully) the near future...
Thanks for the info!
and thank you, sleep is not something of abundance right now for me so I’ve spaced on a few things already. Luckily I’ll have a buddy to help out tomorrow so hopefully he will keep me from messing it up.
I appreciate the help!
Thanks for all the help, so sounds like I should be good.
I pitched the yeast at 10:30pm thursday and plan to have my brew done and in the carboy about 6pm Saturday. I was planning on popping it in the fridge tonight to let the yeast settle so I can-pour out some of the spent wort. Would you...
Hello!
So this is my second time doing a starter.
I popped my smack pack more than 3 hours before (or so I thought). It inflated a little but not as much as I remembered the last one doing, but I assumed it was just a bit slow and poured it into the wort anyways because it was getting late. But...
