    Bringing HB into the US

I am about to visit a few old friends in Maine, beer-heads like I am. Problem is, I live in Canada. I would love to bring them a few of my own. Are there any special regulations when bringing homebrews into the US? Limits on total amount? Thanks and cheers!!! David

Moralité (brasseurs du ciel) clone recipe?

In case anyone is searching for 'Moralite and clone', at least something will show up. I cracked my first one opened tonight, and it's pretty close to the real thing. An intense attack of citrusy/peachy aromas with low bitterness. I'll have to get another 6-pack of the real thing and drink them...

Thanks for the pointers... not the response I was expecting, but definitely one I deserved after re-reading my post :)

Moralité (brasseurs du ciel) clone recipe?

I just tried this for the first time... I nearly fell down my chair (and it was my first one of the night). First thing that crossed my mind was: I need to clone this. I found nothing on the internet or on this forum. The brewery is nice enough to give us the hops: Simcoe, Citra, and...

another imperial stout fermentation gone wrong

No worries... It wasn't in the video. I woke up this morning checking my fermentations (as usual). The hose was several feet from the fermenter, with beer on the walls, ceiling, and floor. I moved it to the shower; what the video shows is about 1/4 of what happened. If I can save it, I'll...

another imperial stout fermentation gone wrong

It's been going like this for at least 14 hours (when I woke up) and no sign of slowing down... I hope I can save it; the whole house smells of delicious stout. I'm guessing I will seal it when it's done, shower the whole thing, and hope for the best.

another imperial stout fermentation gone wrong

I had an 3/8 inch blow off hose... I'm going bigger next time.

another imperial stout fermentation gone wrong

Can I save this? If not, I still produced a pretty cool video... 3h in 20 seconds. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152829045222110&set=vb.567167109&type=2&theater

    Two questions about wheat beer

Just the orange part. For some reason, I found a zester in the kitchen drawer. I'll let you know how it turns out

    Bottle-to-bottle differences in carbonation

Hi everyone, I am pretty new to brewing, but I am deep into it now and really keen to understand what is going on. I started brewing about 2 months ago, and just sealed my 8th all-grain batch. I have 3 batches that are ready to drink and I am noticing that the level of carbonation varies a...

    Two questions about wheat beer

Thanks Metanoia, The batch is sealed and everything is cleaned. I ended up boiling it down to 1.046; it should be fine but I lost two 6-packs in the process :( I'll try a finer crush next time. I couldn't say how fine it was (I am using a hand mill), finer than I would use on barley malt...

    Two questions about wheat beer

Hi everyone, I am boiling my first witbier. It's a modification of a popular recipe online: 4.5 lbs pale 2-row 3 lbs wheat malt 2 lbs flaked wheat mash in 3.5 gal at 152 mash out 4 gal at 165 1 once cascade 60 min 1/2 once orange zest 15 min 3/4 once crushed coriander seeed 15 min...

    Final gravity way too low

Grain was 7 pounds of base 2-row, 1 pound of flaked corn, and 1 pound of dextrose as adjunct.

    Final gravity way too low

For this one I ended up pouring the entire batch of water at the start (6.odd gal) to get the temperature right, stirring a bit every 20 minutes (for an hour). I use a 10 gal Igloo cooler with some sort of mesh pipe at the bottom. It took about 45 to drain the whole thing. My thermometer is what...

    Final gravity way too low

The OG for this batch was 1.051 and I was using Safale US-05 yeasts (the same for my other previous batches). I think the FGs are too low based on the specifications I get when I order the ingredient kits (from Toronto Brewing; I have yet to try a recipe of my own). The estimated FG for this...
